Kathmandu: Youth and Sports Minister Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj has left for Russia. Minister Gahatraj left for Russia on Monday morning along with Secretary Damodar Regmi, for a five-day visit, at the invitation of Russia’s Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin.

An eight-member delegation led by Minister for Youth and Sports Maheshwor Jung Gahatraj left for Russia on Monday at the invitation of Boxing Federation of Russia and the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation.

The team comprises the ministry’s secretary Damodar Regmi, National Sports Council departmental chief Madhusudan, minister’s private secretary Roshan Kumar Sunar, Boxing Association president Ram Awale, vice president Arjun Bahadur KC, member Man Bahadur Bhandari and spokesperson and international relations coordinator Shyamkaji Awale.

During the ministerial-level visit to Russia, discussions are expected to be held focusing on mutual cooperation for development and enhancement of the sports sector in both countries.

Similarly, matters relating to sharing of learning and experiences between boxing players of Nepal and Russia, capacity enhancement of boxing coaches, provision of scholarship facility for Nepali students in Russia’s Sports Science College are among the agenda of discussions during the visit.
