Tanahun. The families of the nine youths who were recruited in the Russian army have not yet come in contact with their families. Since there is no option to do anything in the country, the parents and the families are worried after their children who have joined the Russian army have lost contact.
A mother living in Beyas Municipality-9 said that her son, who had been recruited into the Russian army with a dream that he would earn money and raise him happily, had been crying day and night after losing contact for the past four months. “The son, who joined the Russian army, told me not to worry at first”, the mother said, asking to remain anonymous.Goma Tiwari, consultant of the center, informed that the families have applied to the Immigrant Resource Center under the Safe Immigration (SAMI) program in the district administration office to take initiative to bring their children who were recruited into the Russian army safely home.
She said that nine youths, three from Vyas, one from Devghat Rural Municipality, three from Bhanu Municipality, one from Shuklagandaki Municipality and one from Myagde Rural Municipality have been sent to the Russian army asking them to search and return them safely to their country.
The center has informed that all necessary documents of the person have been sent to the consular department for the search of contactless people. Consultant Tiwari also says that he was recruited into the Russian army through a ‘visit visa’ by paying between five lakh to six lakh rupees through an intermediary.
Luna Rana, district coordinator of the center, said that it is estimated that other people from Tanahun may have been recruited into the Russian army. He also says that the number of applicants is low because the Nepalese government has banned enlistment in the Russian army.
Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam said that the district administration office has made arrangements to consult all those who come to make passports to secure foreign employment. He informed that they have conducted the counseling services as a matter of necessity so that no one can be cheated during foreign employment.
“There has been a request to search for those recruited in the Russian army”, Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam said, “We have taken the necessary steps to return them safely from their place, but we have requested that no one go to the countries that have been banned by the state and where there is no information.”
