Kathmandu. Nine top military officers have been dismissed in Israel. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ael Zamir said that these officials had concluded that they had failed to stop Hamas attacks.
More than 1,200 Israelis lost their lives in the attack on October 7, 2023. Protests were reported across the country on Sunday demanding an impartial investigation into Hamas attacks in Israel. About half a million people participated in the demonstration. It is reported that after the protests, pressure has increased on the government to dismiss these officials.
IDF Chief Zamir called the officers for a meeting on Sunday and announced the decision regarding their dismissal. It is said that several officers were also given strict warnings during the meeting. He has also indicated that further decisions will be taken against the commanders concerned based on the expert investigation reports.
However, many of the dismissed officers have already retired from the military. Al Jazeera
