North Korea launched a ballistic missile into waters off its east coast on Sunday, according to South Korean and Japanese officials.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea confirmed the launch on Sunday morning but provided no further details. The launch was also confirmed by the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office, news agency AP reported. The Coast Guard of Japan said it was informed by the Defense Ministry that North Korea’s suspected missile had landed in waters between Japan and the Korean Peninsula, but it did not specify how far away it was from the Japanese coast.
