Kathmandu : Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut has said the Office of Attorney General (OAG) has been playing vital role in improving the criminal justice system.

Prosecution is improving, but it further needs scientific investigation, said CJ Raut at a programme organized on the 75th anniversary of the OAG today. The enforcement of court verdict is equally important to help citizens realize justice, he said, adding that justice must be kept alive for building a civilized society.

CM Raut argued if the investigation is weak and ineffective, justice would be elusive. He urged all to accept the questions people raised in a society.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Anil Kumar Sinha, said objective and in-depth analyses of legal issues helps in achieving justice. He wished reform and professional success to OAG at the programme.

Senior most Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla said investigation should be forwarded in a way it keeps people in centre. Once people are kept in centre the victims will secure justice. She reminded that judiciary is navigating a difficult moment at present. The demands of Gen Z must not be ignored, Malla stressed.

She urged the Gen Z youths to utilize the digital spheres to minimize digital crimes.
Attorney General Sabita Baral informed that OAG was relentlessly working for reform in criminal justice system. As the attorney offices are the bodies responsible for prosecution, they must work honestly.

Chairman of Public Service Commission, Madhav Prasad Regmi, wondered whether the prosecution is influenced as the Attorney General is the legal advisor to government. He took it positively that more than 50 percent candidates were recruited via public service exam of attorney service.

Chairman of Nepal Bar Association, Prof Dr Bijay Prasad Mishra, wished OAG became successful to ensure justice to people through reform in criminal prosecution.
On the occasion, Inspector General of Nepal Police, Dan Bahadur Karki, said the police was forwarding criminal investigation in a more systematic manner- making it technology friendly. Nepal Police was working in smooth collaboration and coordination with OAG.

Deputy Attorney General Sanjiv Raj Regmi said although the September 8-9 Gen Z movement damaged OAG office, it immediately repaired the damaged parts and resumed service. Total 19 offices under OAG received damages during the movement.
Joint Attorney Achyut Mani Neupane was honoured as the best attorney at the programme. Various awards were conferred on 13 attorneys and OAG employees.
CJ Raut handed over the awards. The best joint attorney Neupane viewed the honour had added up energy and responsibility to him. A special publication of OAG was also released on the occasion.
