Pakistan’s ordeal for climate justice

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that Pakistan, which suffered from catastrophic floods a year ago, is a litmus test for climate justice.
While informing the General Assembly about the floods in Pakistan, he said, “Disasters or fires, storms and droughts have not caused destruction on this scale elsewhere.”
“Carbon emissions are warming the planet, killing people, destroying communities and economies. He said, “Some countries have claimed that they cannot reduce their emissions. The truth is that no one person can handle the damage caused by climate change in a single effort.”
Secretary-General Guterres said, “Fossil fuel-based energy systems are a political decision. And those decisions must change.”
Guterres has called on donors and international financial institutions to fulfill their commitments and put the funds they have pledged for Pakistan on the table as soon as possible.
