Biratnagar : Coordinator of Nepali Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that all leftist parties in the country should unite for the cause of self-pride of the people and national independence adding that the political parties in the country have witnessed both unity and woes of division.

Addressing the Koshi Province-level ‘party unity message dissemination assembly’ in Biratnagar on Monday, the former Prime Minister said that the country was in crisis at present and all Nepalis should be warriors to safeguard the citizens’ right to self-determination and defeat imperialism.

On the occasion, Prachanda said that his party too extended a nod to President Ramchandra Paudel to form the interim government to safeguard the institution. He added that the Gen-Z protest cautioned his party and the leaders to mend their ways.

During the programme, Prachanda said that 16 communist parties united to form the Nepali Communist Party to address the demands raised during the Gen-Z protests, empower Nepali citizens, curb corruption and maintain good governance.

Prachanda also suggested that the government should create a conducive environment to conduct free and fair elections in the given deadline.

The Joint Coordinator of the party and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal also said that the leftist political parties united to protect the identity of Nepalis and national sovereignty. The unity was to safeguard the revolutionary characteristics of communist parties and the Nepali Communist Party was committed to protecting Nepali civilization, cultures, social justice and proportional system, leader Nepal added.

Also speaking at the assembly, party leader and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal pledged to work for land reforms, modern agriculture, employment creation through industrialization and other jobs if the Nepali Communist Party got a majority in the upcoming polls.

Leaders Narayankaji Shrestha, Dr Bhim Rawal, Haribol Gajurel, Sarita Thapa, Gopal Kiraty, Rajendra Shrestha and Rupesh Khatiwada also shared their views on strengthening federalism, ensuring economic development and national prosperity and unity of the leftist political parties.
