Prime Minister Prachanda is going to India to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Modi

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ led delegation is going to India. Prachanda is going to New Delhi this afternoon, leading a five-member delegation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of his Indian counterpart Narendra Damodardas Modi.

The Prime Minister’s team to India will not include his daughter and personal secretary Ganga Dahal, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Padam Giri, Foreign Secretary Seva Lamsal and other senior government officials. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to take oath for the third term this evening.

According to the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi, a meeting is scheduled between Prime Minister Dahal and Modi this evening after Modi, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, takes oath. Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to return home tomorrow. Prime Minister Dahal met President Ram Chandra Paudel on Saturday and informed about his visit to India.

The Council of Ministers’ meeting on Thursday decided that the Prime Minister will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi. Earlier, Prime Minister Dahal had paid an official visit to India last May.

In 2014, then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi. Modi invited the heads of state and heads of government of South Asian countries to the ceremony as part of the ‘neighborhood first’ foreign policy adopted by Modi as soon as he took over the leadership of India.
