Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the system would not have changed if Oli was in place of Madhav as General Secretary.

Addressing a message meeting of the Socialist Front on Sunday, Prime Minister Dahal said, “I want to recall. If KP Oli was the General Secretary of UML at that time, there would have been no People’s Movement and the republic.”

“In those days, the Maoists fought an armed war to bring federalism and republic. Girija Prasad led the People’s Movement from the Congress. Mr Madhav helped bring the Maoists to the peace process”, Prachanda said, expressing dissatisfaction with Oli’s mindset.

Accusing Oli of trying to humiliate the accomplishments, he said that there is no alternative for socialist forces but to unite against the counter-revolutionaries.

“There is a dispute going on the topic of whether the republic is for the people or for the reactionary fascists”, he said, “There is alternative for the socialist parties but to unite to protect the accomplishments and establish a socialist republic.”
