Ramesh Badal appointed Attorney General

Mr. Ramesh Badal on your appointment as the Attorney General of Nepal. As per the constitutional provision, the President appoints the Attorney General on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

Pokharel, appointed at the recommendation of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, resigned upon Prime Minister Oli’s appointment.

Badal had previously been appointed as the Attorney General for the first time on March 19, 2021, under the Oli government. However, following the Supreme Court’s verdict overturning the Oli government, he resigned.

Badal resigned on July 13, 2021, after serving for approximately four months in his first term.

Badal is an active member involved in the coalition building between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML.

From UML, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel and Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali played roles in garnering consensus with the Congress.

On July 1, in the early hours, Badal also participated in reaching a consensus with NC and UML at a businessman’s residence with seven agreements.
