Kathmandu. Mount Everest climber and journalist Rojita Buddhacharya has become the first Nepali woman to study at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on a full scholarship.
She left for NASA on Wednesday after being selected for a full scholarship for studies at NASA. Earlier, Rosita has studied on scholarship at Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
After participating in the School of Astrophysics program at the Central Physics Department, Tribhuvan University in 2016, he was selected for a scholarship to study in Baltimore after being noticed by University of Melbourne Associate Professors Mikaela Tenty and Claire Kenyon, European Space Agency Scientist Nora Lutzendorff, and Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center Professor Andrey Ziaski, Poland. Out of 500 applicants from around the world, 14 people were selected and got the opportunity to study at the Space Telescope Science Institute. He now has an opportunity to study in NASA on a full scholarship.
During a program in Kathmandu, Motidevi Memorial Center honored her as a Shahashik Mahila, Everest climber and young scientist. Speaking on the occasion of the event, she recalled the problems and sorrows she faced in the past when her financial situation was weak.
She said that during her studies at the Space Telescope Science Institute, she understood that the soul of being a scientist is the question, the habit of asking questions, how to solve the question and what is the answer to it
