Sri Lanka has won the title of Women’s Asia Cup T20 tournament. Sri Lanka became the winner by defeating India by 8 wickets in the final held today. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, India posted a strong score of 165 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. India’s captain Smriti Mandhana scored 60 runs off 47 balls. Sri Lanka lost only 2 wickets and found the target.
Sri Lanka lost the first wicket in 7 runs. Vismi Gunaratne was run out for 1 run. However, captain Chamri Athapatthu and Harshita Samarawickrama shared 87 runs to lead Sri Lanka to the victory. Chamri scored 61 runs off 43 balls and Harshita scored 69 runs off 51 balls. Kavisa Dilhari, who came at number four, scored 30 runs in 16 balls and India could not get back into the game. Sri Lanka achieved the target with 8 balls remaining. Sri Lanka has won the women’s Asia Cup title for the first time. India has been deprived of winning for the eighth time.
