Strong Earthquake Hits Taiwan

Taipei. A strong earthquake struck the east coast of Taiwan. From Monday night to Tuesday morning, more than 80 earthquakes have been felt here.

Among these, the most powerful earthquake was measured at 6.3 magnitude. This earthquake shook many buildings in the capital city of Taipei. People were very scared due to the strong aftershocks of the earthquake. But it is said that there is no news of human loss.

An earthquake of 7.4 magnitude occurred in Taiwan earlier this month. Thirteen people died and more than 1,000 were injured. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the coastal area of rural and mountainous Hualien County. It was the most powerful earthquake to hit Taiwan in 25 years and was followed by hundreds of aftershocks.

This time too, the epicenter of these earthquakes was Hualien, a rural eastern county in Taiwan. The fire department of Hualien said on Tuesday morning that a hotel that was damaged due to the earthquake of April 3 and is not operating now has slightly collapsed.

Taiwan is situated near the junction of two tectonic plates. Therefore, powerful earthquakes often occur here. In 2016, a very powerful earthquake hit southern Taiwan, killing more than 100 people. In 1999, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake killed more than 2,000 people. Agency
