Sushmita Sen Reveals FIRST Look As Transgender Activist Gauri Sawant From Upcoming Biopic Taali

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen is all set to play transgender activist Gauri Sawant in her brand new web series, titled ‘Taali’.

In the photo, Sushmita can be seen sporting a fierce avatar in a red and green saree and a bold red bindi.

“Nothing makes me prouder & more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person & of bringing her story to the world!! Here’s to life & to everyone’s right to live it with dignity!” she wrote.

For the unversed, Gauri Sawant is the founder and director of Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust, which promotes safe sex and provides counseling to transgenders. Gauri adopted a girl named Gayatri in 2008 after Gayatri’s mother died of AIDS. In 2019, she was made the goodwill ambassador of the Election Commission in Maharashtra.

‘Taali’ will be directed by Marathi filmmaker Ravi Jadhav and will reportedly comprise of six episodes that will touch upon Gauri’s life journey and struggles, as well as becoming India’s first transgender mother.

Deepak Mukut of Soham Rockstar Entertainment and Mansi Bagla of Mini Films have collaborated on this massive project.

Meanwhile, besides ‘Taali’, Sushmita also has the third season of her hit web series ‘Aarya’ in the pipeline.
