T20 World Cup: England defeat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets, enter semifinals

ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, England defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets in the final league match of Group 1 at Sydney today. With this win, England reached the semi-finals while defending champions and hosts Australia have been knocked out.

Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Sri Lankan team posted 141 for 8 in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing a target of 142 runs, England reached the target in 19.4 overs losing 4 wickets. For England Alex Hales top scored with 47 runs.

On 6th Nov 2022, India will take on Zimbabwe, while in another match Pakistan will lock horns with Bangladesh.

New Zealand became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup as they defeated Ireland by 35 runs at the Adelaide Oval.
