The third IDA21 replenishment meeting has kicked off in Kathmandu — marking an inflection point in the yearlong replenishment process.Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal emphasised the need for enhanced collaborations to promote fair access to resources, technology, capacity-building, and investment for sustainable development in LDCs.
“Glad to host and inaugurate the IDA21 Replenishment Meeting in Kathmandu. Over six decades, IDA has been a key source of development finance, leading to significant outcomes in infrastructure and social development in Nepal,” says Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal . “We are celebrating 60 years of IDA impact. This did not happen overnight. The impact is because you stayed with us over the course of our journey,” says Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
IDA’s partnership with South Asia has achieved impressive results across the region.
With IDA support, in just the past four years:
- more than 84.7 million people have benefitted from safety net programs
- more than 24.5 million people have received essential health, nutrition, and population services
- more than 2.6 million people gained access to improved water sources
- more than 1.8 million people gained access to improved sanitation services
- more than 11.5 million people have directly benefited from IDA-focused investments in jobs.
