Beirut. The US Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon has requested its citizens to leave Lebanon immediately. At a time of rising tensions in the Middle East, the embassy has asked to leave Lebanon on any available ticket.
After the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on Wednesday, Iran has vowed a strong response to Israel. Haniya was killed within a few hours of Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukar being killed in Beirut.
It is suspected that Hezbollah in Lebanon can play a major role in countering these killings and that Israel can also seriously attack it. According to local time, Hezbollah launched dozens of rockets at Beit Hillel city in northern Israel at midnight on Sunday.
As the violence continues in the Middle East, countries including Jordan and Canada are warning their citizens not to visit Lebanon.
