Kathmandu. The way to the fourth camp (7950m) has been opened for climbing Mount Everest in spring 2024. According to the Department of Tourism, the work of ‘rope fixing’ for hanging the rope for climbing Mount Everest has been completed up to the fourth camp. If the weather cooperates, the department expects to climb Mount Everest from Baisakh 28th (May 10th).
According to Rakesh Gurung, Director of Adventure Tourism and Mountaineering Branch of the department, if the weather cooperates, the rope fixing team will reach the peak in a few days and hang the rope and the climbing will start from 28th Baisakh. Earlier, a team of icefall doctors had made the way from the base camp to the second camp.
“At this time, the responsibility of rope fixing from the second camp (Camp 2) to the peak of Lhotse mountain, including Everest, was given to Seven Summit Treks Pvt. Ltd. under the management of Mountaineering Operators Association of Nepal and on Sunday, the rope fixing team has completed the work of hanging the rope up to the fourth camp,” the department said in a statement.
According to the department, a total of 390 climbers including 70 women and 320 men from 37 climbing groups have taken permission to climb Mount Everest. Only Rs 55 crore 85 lakh 44 thousand 449 royalties have been collected from Everest climbing.
Director Gurung said that climbers are enthusiastically coming to climb Mt. Now climbers are taking permission from the department. Many climbers have reached the Everest base camp.
