Thirteenth century old idols sent to Nepal from America, will be replaced in the missing places

Washington DC – The Nepali Embassy in the US has sent 24 statues of archaeological importance to Nepal. The material, collected by American citizen Susan Bradford, was recently handed over to Hawaii.

The materials that were handed over to the embassy staff were sent to Nepal on Thursday in coordination with the Department of Archeology. According to the embassy, the idols of the 13th, 17th and 18th centuries have been repatriated. These idols are made of metal, wood, stone and bone.

“We are taking the initiative to send back to Nepal many religious and cultural items that have been lost from Nepal. This time, American citizen Susan herself contacted us and this process has been completed,” said Uttam Ghimire, Second Secretary of the Embassy. According to him, the Department of Archeology is preparing to replace the idol in the missing place.

Among the idols sent are Kalakuber idol of Dhalot, Vishwarupa idol, Mahishasuramardini idol, Mahamanjushree Shakti idol called Mokshada, Vighnantaka Bhairava idol of Dhalot, Prajnaparamita idol of copper, Kinnari idol of Dhalot, Barahi idol of wood and Chamunda head, Saraswati idol of Prastar.

Similarly, other idols include Manjushree Shakti of Prastra, Agasthamuni idol of Prastra, handwritten texts, and idols of Kuvera, copper kali yantra, bone sitapati yantra, wooden phurva, iron lock, dhalot sinhamu, iron trishul. The embassy has sent 63 different sculptures and architectural materials to Nepal during the period of one year.
