Leaders from three factions of the Nepali Congress have held discussions on the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, focusing on candidate selection and ticket distribution. The meeting took place late Monday night at a hotel in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu.

Party spokesperson Devaraj Chalise and leader Madhu Acharya represented the party establishment, while Ramesh Lekhak attended on behalf of former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s faction. Dr Minendra Rijal participated from the group led by Dr Shekhar Koirala. The discussions were held as the deadline for filing candidacies draws closer, with the Election Commission’s schedule setting Tuesday as the nomination day.

With only one day remaining for nominations, leaders agreed to set aside internal disputes and move ahead with selecting candidates. The three factions will jointly prepare a list of potential candidates, after which the party’s parliamentary board will finalize the nominations. The Nepali Congress has already formed a 13-member parliamentary board under party president Gagan Thapa.
