Trump-Putin agree to proceed together

Kathmandu- After separate phone conversations with US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, signs of an end to the three-year war between the two countries have started to appear.

The 90-minute phone conversation between US President Trump and Putin, who once used hateful terms such as murderer, dictator and criminal, is expected to ease the long-standing bitterness between Western nations and Russia.

Both the leaders claimed that the phone conversation was very positive and result-oriented. The Russian news agency TASS reported that the two presidents had a phone conversation to reestablish relations between the Kremlin and Washington DC.

While leaving the White House after the conversation between the two leaders, President Trump said that he would meet his Russian counterpart in Saudi Arabia and that the Russia-Ukraine ‘war’ would end, according to American news agency CNN.

President Trump stated that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman could play a role in the discussion, and we know the Crown Prince well. He wrote on social media that the two presidents had agreed to visit each other’s countries. Trump informed the media that both the presidents have agreed to visit each other’s countries. After being elected as the American president, Trump sent his special envoy to Europe to end the Russia-Ukraine war, and it is said that the presidents of both countries got in touch by phone after the envoys who had come to bring the two countries to the table of peace negotiations.

After Ukraine, which has been shaken by war after Russia’s continuous attack on Ukraine, recently said that it would not be a member of NATO, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who is currently on a tour of Europe, has said that the news that Ukraine would become a member of NATO is not true.

A few hours after Ukraine announced that it would not become a member of NATO in an event held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, the talks between the presidents of the two countries indicated that the war between Ukraine and Russia could end, according to international war analysts.

There has not been a high-level visit between Russia and the US for a long time. After almost a decade, the formal announcement that the presidents of both countries would visit each other’s countries has reportedly led to increasing tension and concern among European leaders.

In 2013, after the then US President Barack Obama visited Russia, a high-level visit could not take place.
American President Trump also had a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Zelensky shortly after his talks with Putin. After the phone call, the presidents of both countries said that the talks were positive.

However, international news organizations reported that during his talks with Zelensky, Trump proposed that Ukraine should mine rare minerals worth $5 billion in exchange for the US spending a large amount of money on Ukraine’s defense. Whether Ukraine will accept Trump’s offer or not, defense analysts have been saying that time will tell.

With the change of president in the US, the policy, language and approach towards Russia has changed completely. Trump has publicly announced that he wants to work “very closely, very closely” with Putin to end the Ukraine-Russia war.

If Russia does not return the territories it has occupied with Ukraine, Ukraine will not be allowed to join NATO. Although Russia has said it is ready to hold peace talks, it has not yet been clear what kind of agreement it is seeking with Ukraine.

The telephone conversation with Trump is seen as a major diplomatic victory for Putin. The West has condemned Putin for attempting to tarnish his political career by invading Ukraine three years ago.

Putin’s decision to launch a full-scale attack on Ukraine isolated Russia in the international community. The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution condemning Russia for using illegal force against Ukraine by a majority.
