US and UK refuse to sign Paris AI conference resolution

Kathmandu — The ‘World AI Conference’ held in Paris, the capital of France, with the participation of high-level leaders from the US, India, the European Union, France, China and other countries, concluded on Tuesday. The two-day conference was attended by government representatives from 80 countries, leading companies, developers and experts in the field of AI. The US and UK refused to sign a joint communique preamble to the conference, while the European Union signaled that it would be somewhat lenient on AI regulation.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present as co-chairman at the conference chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron. US Vice President JD Vance, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Jiaoqing, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and others participated as speakers.

US Vice President Vance and British Secretary of State for Science and Technology Peter Kyle, who represented the UK, did not sign the declaration on promoting inclusive and sustainable AI development. Vance also expressed that the European Union has been strict in AI regulation and that this is affecting innovation.
The Paris AI Conference, held on February 10 and 11, brought together the world’s diverse political, business and technology leaders. The conference, which aimed to set global standards for AI regulation, emphasized the ethical, sustainable and inclusive use and development of AI. One of the main highlights of the conference was a speech by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
