Kathmandu : The United States has extended congratulations to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane following the party’s electoral victory.

Sergio Gor, the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs, conveyed the message during a telephone conversation on Tuesday, the US Embassy in Kathmandu said.

During the call, Gor noted that Washington looks forward to working with Nepal’s new government to strengthen economic cooperation and further deepen bilateral ties between the two countries.

In the House of Representatives elections held on March 4, the RSP secured 182 out of 275 seats, winning 125 seats under the first-past-the-post system and 57 under the proportional representation system.
