The United States announced more than 500 new sanctions against Russia on Friday as Russia entered the second year of special military operations in Ukraine.
The United States has added sanctions against Russia saying that the Russian government is guilty of the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Russia’s attack on Ukraine is said to be the reason for increasing the sanctions.
U.S. President Joe Biden responded by targeting the sanctions along with Navalny’s imprisonment as well as Russia’s financial sector, defense industrial base, procurement network and sanctions evaders on several continents.
Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
