WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia, with support from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), organized a regional meeting focused on nutrition and climate change

Kathmandu – The WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia, with support from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), organized a regional meeting focused on nutrition and climate change. During the three-day meeting, 60 participants from WHO South-East Asia Member States, including officials from ministries of health, UN organizations, and partners – involved in environment, agriculture, finance and national planning commissions discussed opportunities for integration to improve nutrition and health outcomes, strengthening its interlinkages. The participants also developed country-specific action plans after identifying gaps in six key areas: policy and program strengthening, enhancing multi-sectoral coordination platforms and accountability mechanisms, joint monitoring targets and indicators, addressing data and evidence gaps, fostering research and innovation, and generating ideas for mobilizing funds. WHO, in collaboration with other partners, intends to support WHO South-East Asia Member States in advancing these initiatives and facilitate the implementation of the action plans.
