Kathmandu. The International Development Association-IDA meeting of the World Bank Group has started in Kathmandu. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated the meeting. On the occasion, Prime Minister Dahal said that the path of economic development has moved forward. Stating that the international community’s support is necessary for Nepal’s development, Prime Minister Dahal also expressed his belief that this meeting will help in attracting international investment in Nepal.
Around 2,000 representatives from 61 countries are participating in the four-day meeting, including World Bank Senior Managing Director Axel Van Trotsenberg and high ranking officials. This is the highest level meeting of the World Bank held in South Asia so far.
Concessional loans and grants, priority areas, policy frameworks, and the commitment of financial resources required for the next 3 years will be discussed in the meeting.
On the same occasion, the Ministry of Finance said that the participants of the meeting will visit 9 different projects related to education, drinking water, reconstruction, energy, climate and other sectors in Nepal with the support of the World Bank.
