Belgrade. At least 10 migrants have died after drowning in the Drina River on the border between Serbia and Bosnia. It is said that a woman and her 9-month-old daughter were among the dead.
While crossing the river, the boat they were on capsized. In this incident that happened on Thursday, it is said that at least 18 migrants, including three children, reached the Bosnian border safely.
It is not clear how many people on board the boat are missing. It is said that search operations were affected due to bad weather. Officials from both countries were to begin the search from Friday morning. The local media also said that they are looking for human traffickers who take the migrants across the river.
Bosnia’s border police have confirmed that the incident happened on Thursday morning. However, the police did not provide any further information about the incident. The Serbian authorities have also confirmed that the incident took place near the border town of Lubovija. Most of the immigrants are said to be Moroccan citizens.
