Kathmandu. In the last five years, it has been found that the incidents of cyber crime have increased by six times. According to the data of the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, 2 thousand 301 complaints related to cyber crime have been received in the financial year 2076/77, and 12 thousand 789 complaints have been received in the current financial year i.e. from last July to 23 February.
According to the police head office, there were 3 thousand 906 applications in the financial year 2077/78, 4 thousand 686 in the financial year 2078 and 79 and 9 thousand 13 in the financial year 2079/80. A total of 12,789 applications have been submitted to the Cyber Bureau, 5,703 from women, 6,177 from men and 503 from others. Deepakraj Awasthi, Superintendent of Police and spokesperson of the Cyber Bureau, said online fraud, publishing obscene photos and videos on social media, using other people’s names and photos. , informed that among various forms of crime including website hacking, there have been more applications of financial fraud in the bureau recently.
