Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai has reaffirmed Nepal’s full commitment to safeguarding human rights.

He made this statement while presenting Nepal’s national report at the 51st session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Wednesday.

According to Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Foreign Secretary Rai highlighted the country’s progress in promoting and protecting civil, political, social, economic, and cultural rights, alongside efforts to strengthen democratic institutions.

The session was attended by Joint Secretary Krishna Prasad Dhakal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal’s Ambassador to Switzerland Ram Prasad Subedi, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of the Nepali Mission in Geneva.
