The Nepali Congress has called on the government to create an environment that guarantees the upcoming elections are conducted fairly and without fear.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Sunday at the party headquarters in Sanepa, party spokesperson Devraj Chalise emphasized that voting in a peaceful and impartial environment is a fundamental right of the people.

He urged the government to remain vigilant in fulfilling its responsibility to safeguard this right, noting that no government has the authority to interfere with citizens’ voting rights.

“Free, fair, and peaceful elections, where people can exercise their right to vote independently, are a natural right of every citizen. The legitimacy of governance derives from the people’s mandate, and the government has no discretion to undermine it,” Chalise said. “We repeatedly stress that the government entrusted with conducting elections must ensure a neutral and safe environment. Nepali Congress does not currently harbor doubts, but it is crucial that the government remains aware of its duty to uphold impartiality.”

Chalise also claimed that several leaders and activists, including members from the Communist Party of Nepal and the Rastriya Swatantra Party, have recently joined Nepali Congress.
