Kathmandu : A session of the National Assembly (NA), the upper house of the Federal Parliament, today endorsed a special motion, expressing sorrow over the losses of life and property caused by the recent floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems.
NA Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal tabled the proposal before the meeting, which was endorsed unanimously. The NA has paid tributes to those who lost their lives in the disaster, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
Through the special motion, the Upper House has stressed the need for rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the survivors, search for those who remain unaccounted for, free treatment of the injured and the scientific management of dead bodies.
“The government should pay special attention to implementing effective measures for disaster management and disaster risk reduction in the future by maintaining national unity and ensuring the support, cooperation and coordination among the three levels of government, local communities, civil society, the private sector, development partners and the international community in the reconstruction of physical infrastructure,” reads the document presented by Chairman Dahal.
