At least seven people were killed on the spot after an electric microbus returning from Manakamana Temple met with an accident in Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality on Saturday.

The microbus, bearing registration number Bagmati Province 006 Kha 8430, plunged about 200 meters down a cliff near Kantar of the rural municipality. According to police, 14 passengers were on board the vehicle.

Police said seven people died at the scene, while the remaining seven injured passengers were rescued and sent for treatment.

Following the incident, local residents and police teams rushed to the site and carried out rescue operations. Authorities said the steep terrain made the rescue efforts challenging.

Police added that the cause of the accident and the identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be confirmed.
