Kathmandu: Trailer of the India-Bangladesh joint production movie on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was released in Cannes jointly by Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and his Bangladeshi counterpart Dr. Hasan Mahmud on Thursday.

The biopic ‘Mujib: The Making of a Nation’ is directed by the renowned filmmaker Shyam Benegal.

Addressing the audience on the occasion, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that it was a gift on the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib. He said the co-production of the movie is an example of good neighbourly ties and the movie complements each other’s work. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that the release of the movie trailer at Cannes puts the friendship of India and Bangladesh on display for the world.

Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that the movie was based on the struggle, suffering and making of a nation by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Complementing the ties between the two countries he said that Bangladesh and India relationship had touched new highs under the leadership of the two Prime Ministers Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi.

‘Mujib – The Making of a Nation’ directed by Shyam Benegal is a tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib on his birth centenary and marks the 50 years of Bangladesh’s liberation. Renowned Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuvoo has played the role of Bangabandhu while Nusrat Imrose Tisha plays the role of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa. The shooting for the film has been completed and it is expected to be ready for release later this year.
