Putin and Kim have signed a defense agreement

Russia and North Korea have reached a new agreement on many important issues, including defense. The agreement was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean President Kim Jong Un. While Putin is on a visit to North Korea after 24 years, a ‘major strategic partnership’ was negotiated in Pyongyang on Wednesday.

Russian state media quoted Putin as saying that under the agreement, the two countries agreed to provide mutual assistance in the event of an attack on the other. This is a clear warning from the two leaders to the western countries. Russian state news agency Tass quoted Putin as calling the agreement a “historic document,” adding a clause on mutual defense.

“The Comprehensive Partnership Treaty signed today provides mutual assistance in the event of aggression against one of the treaty parties,” Putin said, adding, “This is a leading document and will take our relations to a new level.”

After the signing of the agreement, Kim Jong Un said that North Korea would respond “without hesitation” to any attack or war on his country or Russia. In addition, he said that the relationship between North Korea and Russia has now been upgraded to a new level of cooperation and will speed up the process of building a ‘multipolar world’.

The agreement states that the UN Security Council should review the indefinite sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies on North Korea. Similarly, there has been an agreement to continue the military technical cooperation between the two countries for mutual support in case of attack.

It is also mentioned in the memorandum that the statements made by the US and NATO countries about providing long-range missiles, F-16 fighter jets and other advanced weapons and equipment to Ukraine to attack the Russian land are also taken into consideration.
