Kathmandu. The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) bid farewell to the national women’s cricket team. Member Secretary of National Sports Council, Tanklal Ghisingh, Secretary of CAN, Paras Khadka and others bid farewell to the women’s team that will go to play the ACC Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
Rahep Member Secretary Ghising congratulated the men’s cricket team by saying that last year the men’s cricket team played in the Asia Cup and this year the women’s team will continue to play as well. Ghising said that the domestic structure of cricket should be improved. CAN Secretary Khadka said that the Asia Cup is a good platform to show their ability. He urged the players to take the election of bat and ball as an opportunity and think how to win their country. Secretary Khadka said that the women’s cricket team should not be prioritized as much as it should have been in the past and now more opportunities should be given to women’s cricket. Women’s cricket is in a rebuilding phase. You cannot always play with India and Pakistan. So make use of the opportunity”, he told the players.
Chief coach Manoj Katuwal said that the 45-day preparation was good and everyone worked hard. Captain Indu Burma said that they have prepared well according to the time and resources available. She said that even though it is monsoon season, the indoor preparations are good. She informed that she will go to Sri Lanka and play practice games.
The captain of the men’s team, Rohit Paedal, while congratulating the women’s team, said that last year they also played against India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup and the confidence of the team increased due to that. He wished the women’s team to take exposure and make use of the opportunity in the game, saying that the exposure of the Asia Cup made it easier for the T20 World Cup. The Nepali team under the captaincy of Indu Burma will go to Sri Lanka on Sunday to play the Asia Cup. The Women’s Asia Cup will start from July 19. Nepal will play UAE, Pakistan and India in the group stage.
