71 dead in Congo from unknown disease

Kathmandu. At least 71 people have died in the Democratic Republic of Congo due to an unknown disease. The government is on high alert after more than 71 people died from the unknown disease, Health Minister Roger Kamba said.

The unknown disease has been found in the Panji region in the south-west of Kwango province, which Congo has declared an epidemic. It is said to have symptoms similar to the flu.

Out of the 71 deaths so far, 27 are from health institutions and 44 from local communities. Around 300 people have been cured.
