Kathmandu – Famous director Christopher Nolan and his wife and producer Emma Thomas have been awarded the titles of ‘British Knighthood’ and ‘Damehood’ for their contribution to the film industry. After this prestigious honor of the British government, Nolan’s name will now be preceded by the title ‘Sir’ and Thomas’ name will be preceded by ‘Dame’.
At a ceremony held at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, King Charles III presented the Nolan couple with the medals after the British tradition of ‘dubbing’. Nolan won an Oscar last year for making the film ‘Oppenheimer’, based on the life of J Robert Oppheimer, known as the ‘father of the atomic bomb’. Oppenheimer won Oscars in seven categories, including best film and best director.
Director Nolan has expressed his gratitude for receiving the British knighthood. He also said that it was a great pleasure to meet King Charles. This honor has been given personally by the British Emperor to active people in different fields. King Charles, who has been undergoing treatment for cancer recently, does not attend royal events. At the ceremony honoring the Nolan couple, he came in royal attire. He appreciated the work of Nolan couple. Nolan has directed many popular films like ‘Interstellar’, ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Inception’, ‘Dunkirk’, ‘Memento’, ‘Insomnia’. His tendency is to present the story in a ‘non-linear’ style in the film and to avoid computer generated images as much as possible. Nolan, who was born in London, the capital of the UK, married Emma Thomas in 1997. Since then, the two have been collaborating closely in film production as well.
