Kathmandu. There has been a significant increase in the foreign aid commitments received by the Nepal government from development partners. According to the Ministry of Finance, by the first week of December of the current fiscal year 2081/82, foreign aid commitments worth two billion two billion 40 million rupees have been received.
In the same period of the last financial year 2080/81, foreign aid commitments worth 59 billion 98 million rupees were received. Mahesh Bhattarai, the spokesman of the Ministry of Finance, informed that the foreign aid commitments received in the current financial year have increased by 237.5 percent compared to the first five months of the last financial year.
According to spokesperson Bhattarai, the foreign grant commitment increased by 153.1 percent and the foreign loan commitment by 280.6 percent during this period.
The foreign aid received during the current financial year has also increased by 30.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, during this period foreign grants of 6.75 billion rupees and foreign loans of 37.33 billion rupees have been received and a total of 44.8 billion foreign aid has been received and used in various development works.
