Putin sets tough conditions for Ukraine ceasefire

Kathmandu– Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he is ready for a ceasefire in Ukraine. But he has put forward some tough conditions for it.

President Putin said that one of the areas of dispute is Kursk. Where Ukraine made a military incursion last year. At that time, Ukraine occupied some parts.

“Russia has completely taken control of Kursk. It has isolated the Ukrainian army,” Putin said. “Ukraine has two options in Kursk. Either surrender or die.”

Ukraine had agreed to a 30-day ceasefire plan during talks with the United States. President Putin has put forward some aspects related to the ceasefire agreement in the context of Ukraine’s response.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called President Putin’s plan “conspiratorial.” The Ukrainian president called for more sanctions on Russia.

Meanwhile, the US has imposed additional sanctions on Russia in the oil, gas and banking sectors.

Speaking at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday, President Putin said of the ceasefire declaration, “The idea of ​​a ceasefire is correct. We support it. However, there are some questions that we need to discuss.”

Putin said the ceasefire should bring peace. He said the root causes of the crisis should be addressed.

He said he would talk to US allies, saying, “Maybe I will talk to Donald Trump.”

Putin also said a 30-day ceasefire would be good for Ukraine.
