Almost a thousand immigrants were caught in one day in America

Washington, D.C. Nearly 1,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested in the US in a single day. The search for such immigrants has intensified across the country since US President Donald Trump announced the mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
Meanwhile, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said that 956 people were arrested in this campaign on Sunday. Some federal agencies with expanded arrest powers are active in raids in several cities including Chicago, Newark and Miami.
The promise to deport immigrants living in the US illegally was a key issue of Trump’s election campaign. ICE said that Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden deported an average of 311 people a day, most of whom were criminals. Since taking office on January 20, Trump has signed 21 executive orders to overhaul the US immigration system. Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan is in Chicago to oversee the deportation process.
