American woman returned 24 idols lost from Nepal

The archeology department says – the sculpture was found from an unexpected place
An American woman has returned 24 missing statues from Nepal. Susan Bradford, who lives in the state of Hawaii, coordinated with the Nepali Embassy in Washington to return the artefact.

A month ago, she had written to the embassy along with the photo of the idol and informed that she wanted to return it. The Embassy then sent the letter to the Archeology Department through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The women were informed after the department identified and confirmed the Nepali style sculptures. She then returned the statue. After the process was completed, the idol was returned through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 22.

Director General of the Department of Archeology Saubhagya Pradhanang said – we did not even know that the statue was missing, some local people did not even inform us, but the woman is thinking of returning it to Nepal after her age is falling. It has been easier to bring back the sculptures that have reached America than in other countries, some sculptures have come spontaneously even though we did not look for them, this is a happy thing.

It has been easy to bring back, some of the sculptures have come spontaneously even though we did not look for them, it is a happy thing.’ She said she did not know where the returned statues were and when they were lost. He said that even the woman who returned it did not inform about this.
As no local person came forward to claim the artefact, it is currently kept in the National Museum at the cantonment. Looking at the sculpture, it is believed that the department is within the Kathmandu Valley and may date back to about four hundred years ago. According to the department, further study is also being done.

The government does not have accurate data about when and where the antiquities disappeared. The archeology department comes to know about the disappearance of the historical objects only after the local residents complain. Otherwise, the department remains unaware of the fact that it has been stolen and reached different countries.
