Kathmandu : President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed Balen Shah as Prime Minister, designating him as the parliamentary party leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Shah was appointed in accordance with Article 76(1) of the Constitution, which allows the leader of the majority party in the House of Representatives to form the government.

This marks the first time a Prime Minister has been appointed under this provision since the promulgation of Nepal’s Constitution in 2015.
