Kathmandu:  Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Balen Shah, has declined to take part in a public debate with CPN-UML Chairman K.P. Sharma Oli. Shah’s response came after Oli stated that he was ready for a public debate with prospective prime ministerial candidates.

Reacting to Oli’s social media post, Shah commented that he would not stand on the same platform with him. In his comment, Shah accused Oli of being responsible for violence and alleged attempts to conceal incidents by arson. He said that participating in a debate alongside Oli would amount to endorsing such actions.

Shah further stated that standing on the same stage with those he accused of being responsible for the killing of 76 children and their accomplices would be interpreted as complicity, which he said he could not accept.
