Kathmandu. In the WAF Women’s Championship football continued in Saudi Arabia, the Nepali women’s team became the group winner and succeeded in securing a place in the semi-finals. Nepal, which reached the semi-finals one match earlier, defeated Palestine by 4-0 in the match on Saturday night and became the group winner.
Palestine, which was defeated, entered the semi-finals as runners-up. In the last match of the group stage, Nepali goal machine Savitra Bhandari ‘Samba’ scored two goals while Rekha Paudel and Geeta Rana scored one each. In the 42nd minute of the game, Savitra took the lead by scoring a pass from Rekha Paudel.
After scoring one goal in the first half, Nepal added three goals in the second half. In the 60th minute, Rekha, who was unmarked, doubled Nepal’s lead by scoring when Savitra’s ball bounced off the post. In the 79th minute, Savitra scored her second personal goal through Rashmi Ghising’s pass, and Nepal went ahead 3-0.
