Kathmandu – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khalida Zia has been released. According to the instructions given by President Mohammad Shahabuddin to release, the notice of release was issued in the official gazette on Tuesday. On Monday, President Mohammad Shahabuddin announced the release of Khaleda Zia in his national address. Bangladesh’s Daily Sun has written that he also instructed to release all those who were arrested during the latest protest. Zia was in jail since 2018. There were accusations that the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had taken him to jail based on bias. After Hasina fled the country because of the agitation, the way for Zia’s release opened.
