Kathmandu : The government has come up with a plan to provide concessional loans up to Rs 5 million to the families of the martyrs and the injured of the Gen-Z movement to run self-employment businesses.
The Ministry of Finance issued the ‘Procedures on Interest Subsidy for Concessional Loans (Second Amendment), 2083’ on Friday to make the arrangement.
The ministry amended the procedures using the authority given under Clause (65)(4) of the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Accountability Act, 2076 BS.
The revised procedure has added a self-employment enterprise loan arrangement targeting families of martyrs and injured of the Gen-Z movement that occurred on September 8-9 last year.
It is arranged that families of the martyrs or the injured of the Gen-Z Uprising can be provided loans up to Rs 5 million.
According to the procedures, the families of martyrs or the injured must be certified by the government or an authority designated under prevailing law.
‘Families of martyrs of the Gen-Z movement refer to mean the husband, wife, son, daughter, father, or mother of the person who obtained martyrdom in the Uprising.’ It is stated.
The procedures stated that concessional loans can be made available for martyr families and the injured for businesses related to agriculture and livestock, cottage and small industries, service businesses, IT-based businesses, tourism enterprises, productive industries, startup ventures, and other employment-oriented businesses as designated by the government from time to time.
Besides, the government has widened the scope of concessional loans, aiming at economically empowering families and the injured affected by the Gen-Z movement through self-employment and entrepreneurship.
