Kathmandu : Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration, Pratibha Rawal, has shared that the government is serious to resolve problems of landless squatters, adding it has been constantly working to this purpose.

Responding to queries raised during discussion on the resolution of urgent public importance in the meeting of the House of Representatives held on Tuesday, Minister Rawal mentioned that the role of three-tier government is essential in identifying landless squatters and distributing land to them.

However, she complained of not getting expected support from some local levels in this task. The Land Management Minister viewed that Rs 211 billion has been spent in recent three commissions, out of commissions formed in different periods, established with a purpose of distributing land to landless.
She further said the government has started distributing land ownership certificate to landless squatters from June 2.

Earlier in the meeting, discussion was held on the resolution of public importance related to landless, squatters and management of unorganised settler citizens.

Taking part in the discussion on the resolution, lawmakers laid emphasis that three-tier governments, parliament and political parties should collectively work to resolve the problems of landless squatters.
Saying distributing land, housings, and landownership certificate to landless is the shared responsibility of three-tier government, parliament and political parties, they stressed that the real landless and squatters should get justice from the state.

Similarly, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, on the behalf of Prime Minister, Balendra Shah, tabled the sixth annual report of Indigenous Nationalities Commission of fiscal year 2081/82. The HoR will meet next at 1:00 on August 7.
