Durga Prasai was arrested on Friday from Chalnakhel, Dakshinkali Municipality, Kathmandu, for allegedly violating the election code.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Raj Awasthi, spokesperson of the Cyber Bureau, the arrest followed a directive from the Election Commission to take action against Prasai under the election code.

This is not Prasai’s first arrest. He was previously taken into custody on January 19 in Pokhara after making controversial statements regarding a disputed Rs 520 million donation to the Election Commission by supporters of the Nepali Congress Special General Convention.

The Cyber Bureau confirmed that legal proceedings will follow in accordance with the election regulations.
