Election Commission calls for closed list of PR candidates

Kathmandu : The Election Commission has urged the political parties to submit the closed list of the Proportional Representation (PR) candidates contesting in the upcoming March 5 HoR election.

Issuing a press statement here today, the Commission appealed with the political parties to submit the closed list of candidates by 4 PM on December 28 and 29 after completing necessary methods, process and supporting documents to the Office of the Election Officer.

In the press statement issued by Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Joint-Secretary as well Spokesperson of the Commission, said that the political parties may make the candidates’ closed list public either before or after submitting it to the Office of the Election Officer.

The statement reads, “The political parties aspiring to contest in the election under the proportional presentation electoral system must prepare the list of candidates only after fulfilling the methods, procedures and supporting documents as outlined in the House of Representatives Members Election Act-2074 BS, the Election Regulations-2074 BS and the House of Representatives Proportional Representation Election Directives-2082 BS and submit it the closed list within the deadline.”
