Kathmandu : The Election Commission has scrapped six political parties that failed to pay the required fine. According to the Commission, these parties were scrapped as per Section 12 of the Political Parties Act, 2016.

The parties that have been deregistered include the Aam Aadmi Party Nepal, Nepal Communist Party (Loktantrik), Nepal Rashtrabadi Party, Aadhunik Nepal Samajwadi Party, Nepal Communist Party (Gaurabhshali), and Maoist Janamukti Party.
At present, there are 137 parties registered with the Commission.
